Executive Summary

Rancho Mission Viejo, a 23,000-acre active housing development that includes a ranch and farm, habitat reserve, and neighborhoods in the unincorporated areas of South Orange County, CA, sought to add a revenue-generating feature to its community.

Challenges

The community sought to introduce a feature that would be a hit with its residents while still generating revenue. Other amenities, such as a swimming pool, fire pit, and bocce ball courts, are features that generally do not generate revenue and require ongoing upkeep. Rancho Mission Viejo sought to help offset these costs and their annual lease expenses while introducing a beneficial amenity for their residents.

How Betson Helped

Betson determined the best layout and carefully selected the most suitable games. This robust community can thrive and grow while allowing room for change in the future.

Results, Return on Investment, and Future Plans

The arcade was a big success (with younger and older residents) as an added amenity in the community. The revenue generated from the arcade’s token sales more than paid for the community’s annual lease cost within the first seven months of opening the game room.

Betson has been and will continue to do quarterly service checkups on the machines. This has also greatly benefited Rancho Mission Viejo, ensuring that the machines provide their residents with the best experience possible.
